Apple Compote

Delicious dessert for me doesn’t have to me complicated. Those tend to be simple and easy to make are always my favourite. Apple compote is one of them. This is the kind of dessert that everyone can make at home. Apple is a versatile fruit that you can use to make fantastic dessert.

My other half hails from the region of Normandy in France that is famous for dairy products and also apples. Apples are used in many ways not only in making desserts but also in making brandy. Calvados is a great example of apple brandy, which is not only served as apéritif, blended in drinks, between meals, as a digestif, or with coffee, it is also used being used in cooking and baking.

Apple compote is very common and also a all time favourite in every French home. It is loved and eaten by all ages! I love making apple compote in big portion every now and then, it keeps well in the fridge for a few days and always tastes really good the next day. Serving it chilled is great; sprinkled with some toasted almonds and raisins make it even better! 😉
